This year's results from Deloitte's Global Shared Services Survey make interesting reading - and reinforce the value of a mature approach to process management.
It's a serious survey - 270 Shared Services Organizations (SSOs) covering 718 Shared Services Centers (SSCs) worldwide. And it demonstrates the enormous transformational changes underway, and their rapidly increasing pace.
Let me pull out three conclusions that point to the value of a process management platform:
Governance. "As more organizations pursue global centers, an increasing number of governance elements must be put in place."
Collaboration. " SSOs are directing more money into initiatives that improve interaction with their customers."
Integration and Transparency. "Other benefits from Shared Services are just as much or more valuable than the cost reduction -- controls, data visibility, and creating a platform for growth, just to name a few."
Exactly the reasons why organizations like the one mentioned here recently see Nimbus Control as the process management platform that can orchestrate their transformation.
They recognize that, to do this well, they need a collaborative framework that uses the language of end-to-end process; that enables cross-silo and cross-organizational thinking and action; that is holistic in every way; and that connects strategy with people doing real work.
Not everyone sees this yet, of course, but the survey results suggest strongly that this is the emerging understanding:
"Over half of the respondents indicated that they would have increased change management during their Shared Services journey. People and change management related factors are often the most under-estimated aspects of a Shared Services implementation."
And it's suggested too in Deloitte's own final commentary that:
"To fully leverage the value of Shared Services.. heavy focus on change management elements such as communication, training, and executive alignment are required."
